Hallelujah. Praise be to the name of the Lord. My name is Ryuichi Sunakawa, and I am the pastor of Tsukishiro Christian Church in Nanjo City, Okinawa Prefecture. Recently, I participated in the United Nations Human Rights Council meeting held in Switzerland with my friend Satoru Nakamura (President of the Japan Okinawa Policy Research Forum).

This is to force the United Nations to withdraw the recommendation issued by the United Nations to the Japan government six times in the past that “the people of Okinawa are indigenous people.” Mr./Ms., do you know that Japan is now facing an existential crisis? What exactly is the “Okinawan people are indigenous people” recommendation? To put it simply, “Okinawa used to be the Ryukyu Kingdom. However, it was invaded by Japan in Meiji 12 and became a colony.

Therefore, the people of Okinawa are indigenous peoples, and the rights of indigenous peoples must be protected as stipulated in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, which was adopted in 2007 with the support of the Japan government. What would happen if Japan government recognized the Okinawan people as indigenous peoples? Article 30 of the United Nations Proclamation on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples states that “military activities shall not be carried out on the ancestral lands of indigenous peoples,” so if the people of Okinawa object, it will be a violation of international treaties unless the U.S. military bases and Self-Defense Force bases are withdrawn from Okinawa. What happens then? Will it be a peaceful Okinawa without bases? No, no, it’s not. The elimination of U.S. military bases and Self-Defense Force bases from Okinawa would cause a terrible catastrophe in Okinawa, Japan, and neighboring countries. The Chinese People’s Liberation Army invades Okinawa, and Okinawa falls under Chinese control. In the past, China invaded Tibet militarily. And now it is the Tibetan Autonomous Region of China. In the past, China invaded East Turkistan militarily. And now it has become the Uyghur Autonomous Region of China. China has also invaded the country of Inner Mongolia militarily. It is now the Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region of China. In these countries, ethnic cleansing is still going on. Ethnic cleansing (genocide) is being carried out in those countries, just like the worldview of the book of Revelation. In other words, the people of Okinawa are the next target of ethnic cleansing. The next target is mainland Japan. Our country, Japan, is China’s next target. Unbeknownst to the Governor of Okinawa Prefecture, without any discussion in the Okinawa Prefectural Assembly, and without the knowledge of us Okinawans, an organization called the Citizen Diplomacy Center (English called the “Citizen Diplomacy Center for the Rights of Indigenous Peoples”) went to the United Nations without permission and complained that “the people of Okinawa are indigenous people,” and it was accepted by the United Nations. We, the people of Okinawa, as well as the people of Japan, must withdraw this as soon as possible.

This “Okinawan people are indigenous people” recommendation is an attempt to divide Japan and Okinawa. And this is China’s takeover of Japan. In order to have the UN recommendation withdrawn, Satoru Nakamura and I have participated in the UN Human Rights Council.
